What about AI? If artificial intelligence takes over, some argue, little point is in studying physics or any science. And I could do half your work before you even get a degree. But that argument ignores why people study science in the first place. Understand new things, to ask the questions of the unexpressed bots will never dream. People love that entire problem solving process. That’s why they like to get sides of Rubik’s cubes to match. Yes, it is possible that the robot could faster, but it is not a matter. Science is one of the things that make people make people.
Another thing to think is that AI tool is. Scientists use AI to help them understand things for a while now. For example, consider a giant particle accelerator (such as those at CERN in Switzerland). Although working, it creates huge amounts of data. Use of machine learning, scientists can process the huge amounts of information to search for patterns that can take over human eternity to pass. It is the perfect combination of people and machines working together. And for the sake of boring things, and people do fun things. Win-win.
Now, about funding. It is very common to think about science as a way to get things. If you don’t get anything from science then you shouldn’t give anything (money). Politicians often take scientific investigations that look unnecessary, such as the creation of “transgender mice,” when they try to discredit research and universities that do it. This leaves researchers in the position “Well, we don’t really work” and “Here’s why this is actually useful”, but even when they heard that this is often done to damage. Such comments still shake faith in science and lead to cessation of grants.
But thinking about science in terms of returning investment, passes the point. It’s not just silly, it’s often wrong. Consider the story of Heinrich Hertz. 1886. used an electric oscillator to produce sparks in another device per room. In short, the existence of electromagnetic waves showed. The point is, the stem is just like all other Major. You should enter these fields because you think they are great. You may build a light light bright summary – but if you couldn’t just find new ways to turn on your TV.
