Maruti e-Vitara Electric SUV Launching Soon – Know Expected Release Date & Details

Maruti Suzuki is all set to make its official entry into India’s growing electric car market. The company’s first ever electric SUV, the Maruti e-Vitaraexpected to launch in December this year. The project gained a lot of attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s Hybrid battery electrode manufacturing unit in Hansalpur, Gujarat, on 26 August. During the same event, he also submitted export of e-Vitarawhich marks a major milestone for the brand’s global electrical strategy.

Global production and export network

e-Vitara is designed as one global electric SUVmanufactured in India and exported to over 100 countriesincluding key markets such as Europe and Japan. Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) started exporting the e-Vitara from Pipavav Port in Gujarat on September 1. In August alone, the company shipped over 2,900 units to 12 European countriessuch as Great Britain, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria and Belgium. This shows how strongly Maruti is positioning India as a hub for global EV production.

Dimensions and power options

e-Vitara is 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wideand 1,640 mm highwith one 2,700 mm wheelbase. It has an advanced 3-in-1 electric drive system that integrates motor, inverter and transmission for improved efficiency.

Buyers get two battery options to choose from:

  • ONE 49 kWh battery power supply for a 144 hp motor with 189 Nm of torque
  • ONE 61 kWh battery paired with one 174 hp engine delivery 189 Nm of torque

These configurations are designed to offer a balanced blend of power, range and performance for both city and highway driving.

Premium interior and features

The e-Vitara’s cabin is designed to deliver a first-class and comfortable driving experience. It has one floating console with two decksa digital cockpitand one custom steering wheel. The interior combines soft-touch dual-tone materials with multicolored ambient lightinggiving it a modern, sophisticated look.

It is equipped with advanced technology, including a 10.1 inch infotainment touchscreena 10.25 inch driver screen, wireless connectionand one Harman tuned sound system. Comfort features include ventilated front seatsa 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seatand one 40:20:40 split rear seat that reclines, slides and provides access to the boot for increased flexibility.

Safety and build quality

In terms of safety, Maruti has ensured that the e-Vitara meets international standards. The SUV’s body structure is made with over 50% high strength steel and reinforced with a battery protection system for increased durability.

Standard safety features include seven airbags (including a driver’s knee airbag), electronic parking brake, all disc brakes, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)and one e-Call emergency response system. e-Vitara also supports Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which offers functions such as lane keeping assistant, adaptive cruise control and collision warning for increased driving safety.
